THE 2ND BENEFIT OF CAFFEINE
We have seen that caffeine speeds upthe glucose-transporters by as much as 25%, but that's not the only benefit of caffeine. New research has shown that caffeine, even in moderate doses, produces a substantial "systemic" performance gain. Caffeine is a powerfulstimulant to the whole body. It reduces tiredness and mental fatigue, while at the same time increasing muscle contractile strength. As a final benefit, caffeine has been shown to reduce the rate of glycogen breakdown, sparing valuable carbohydrate stores - so not only do you get substantially more carbohydrate from Super Carbs, you are also able to make more efficient use of it as well. You will understand why riders, in the latest 2007 performance study, were substantially faster over the last 60km of a road race when using EnergySource Plus as compared to any other brand of drink. With more available carbohydrate, faster fluid delivery and a caffeine boost the riders were on average: 8 min.40 faster than using PSP 22 7 min.39 faster than using SiS Go 5 min.25 faster than using Maxim 5 min.47 faster than using Endura. Since it was a blind study the athletes didn’t know which drink they were using in each test. However, within a short time on the road the knew from how strong and how fast they were that they were using EnergySource Plus. It quickly became known as "go faster juice". PRECISE AMOUNTSOF CAFFEINE AREREQUIRED TO RACE FAST For best effect, caffeine needs to be taken in precise amounts. You need to ensure that |

With added caffeine, EnergySource Plus speeds up the glucose-transporter pathways, as well as taking advantage of caffeine’s direct performance benefits. | |||||||||||||||

Or put another way, as more Super Carbs is absorbed, more water is absorbed along with it. All Super Carbs drinks also contain a high level of electrolytes.

your caffeine levels stay in the performance-enhancing zone(see graph).
Too much or too little caffeine and it will not work for you. In longer races like an Ironman, you need to carefully plan your caffeine intake. You must take into account excretion rates (how quickly caffeine is removed from your blood stream), your body weight and a caffeine intake that often involves multiple small doses throughout your race. The following race faster guidelines should ensure that you receive a moderate, but highly effective dose of caffeine to maximise your performance over all race distances. NB: the latest research shows that caffeine, at moderate intake levels, does not cause dehydration. Tea and coffee are not good sources of caffeine for sports use, as they contain unpredictable amounts of caffeine. SUPER CARBS DELIVERS MORE FLUIDS AS WELL AS CARBOHYDRATE The whole purpose of a sports drink is to deliver carbohydrate for energy and fluids to replace that lost through sweat. Super Carbs undoubtedly delivers substantially more energy than normal sports drinks. In 2006, researchers also showed that Super Carbs provided a 40% faster fluid delivery as compared to rival drink PSP22 from SiS. Further studies in Australia this year showed that Super Carbs Plus gave between 17% and 40% hydration advantage over rival products: SiS PSP22, SiS Go Electrolyte, Maxim and Endura. Every athlete in these tests drank the same volume of each brand of drink, it was the amount of fluid that ended up getting into the body that was so different. Why is Super Carbs so much better at fluid replacement? Increased intestinal carbohydrate transport promotes greater fluid absorption. |
WHY NOW, WHY HIGH5
Why didn’t another company come up with a very high-fructose sports drink before? Firstly, an exhaustive series of studies to prove that high fructose formulations work outside of the lab has only just been completed. Secondly, it’s only recently that a significant body of evidence supporting the benefits of moderate doses of caffeine has come together. Thirdly, the problems of gastric distress previously associated with high fructose intakes, has just been resolved. In the last two years, High5 have been at the forefront of developing and testing high-fructose drinks. This research has enabled the Company to develop a range of world class products and the useage guidelines to deliver real benefits over all race distances. NO GASTRIC DISTRESS High fructose Super Carbs does not cause gastric distress. During high intensity exercise, Super Carbs proved to be better tolerated in the stomach than other brands of drink. More than 5,000 athletes raced last year on Super Carbs and there were no reports of gastric problems. During hard exercise, 9 out of 10 athletes said that they preferred the light, non-sweet taste of Super Carbs to other brands. FRUCTOSE IN OTHER BRANDS Other brands of drink do contain a small amount of fructose as a sweetener, but nowhere near the 40% level found in Super Carbs. No other drink in the World combines high fructose with caffeine. Super Carbs Questions and Answers |
